Imibongo Kamakhulu Dolls
My name is Nondumiso Gogela and I’m a creative entrepreneur, mama based in Cape Town and founder of a children’s brand Imibongo Kamakhulu Dolls aimed at increasing diversity and representation through play for all children.
It’s named after my daughter who is the biggest inspiration and muse for the work I do as I’m passionate about finding creative ways of showing up for and shaping these young minds to know their worth, to live and love fearlessly, beginning with themselves.
I have a background in fashion design and buying so this journey started out of passion and purpose.
I began with making one for my daughter when I realized I wanted to be more intentional about the values I instill in my child and that included the toys she interacted with, they needed to build her and reflect her in every way so I handmake beautiful Black and Brown heirloom dolls for all boys and girls.
A lot of pressure for some brown dolls but it’s a message very close to my heart.
