Rubie Roo is an online toy store based in Cape Town, founded by a mom of three excited to share finds of open-ended toys with South Africa.
This little venture is a lockdown baby which was born after I fell in-love with the concept of open-ended toys.
Open-ended toys are simply empty canvasses that slip into their hands and say , “Come with me”. They are toys that invite our children to write their own story. Toys that beckon our children’s beautiful intrinsic creativity. Toys that do not direct, but rather humbly submit to our children being the designers of stories and worlds that no-one has ever thought of before.My search for quality open-ended toys led me to the highly recommended magnetic tile brand, @connetix_tiles . Run by two lovely families who are passionate about their products and all the way from Aus, 🇦🇺 we could not have started this journey without them.
We launched our open-ended toy store in June 2020 with this much loved brand and have BIG plans on bringing in their new products as well as launch a new locally made product early in 2021. We would not have made the first six months of this exciting journey had it not been for all the support from the Instagram community, and we can’t wait to keep supplying South Africa with quality open-ended toys the whole family will enjoy!
